“Once I didn’t talk to my wife for six months;” said the comedian. “I didn’t want to interrupt.”
And I think he is right!
There always comes a time when a woman gives a speech: if she breaks up with her boyfriend, she gives a speech about abusive men; if she gets divorced, she gives a speech women’s rights; if she gets a new dress and a pair of shoes, she gives a speech about fashion and styling; if she has a tough argument at work with her boss, she gives a speech about gender equality; if she has a new born baby, she gives a speech about motherhood; if she has a fight with her brother, she gives a speech about feminism… And the list goes on.
Alright; that’s a common stereotype! Women have been always accused of talking too much. And that’s true. Women talk too much, or to be more accurate, women talk more than men. But the idea is not that women complain, the idea is that a woman’s brain is equipped to do the talking process. Women have the capacity to use 20,000 communication words per day related to their message; which is not the case for men who only use 7000 communication words. The whole idea behind this is that women by nature are indirect when it comes to talking, so their sentences are always process oriented; that’s why they require more words to deliver their message. Besides, women never talk to reach a solution to their problems; however, they talk to acknowledge them, or in other words to discharge and get rid of them. For men, their sentences are always solution oriented and direct which doesn’t require them to do an effort to deliver their message.
“With women, speech is a specific area located primarily in the front left hemisphere with another, smaller specific area in the right hemisphere. Having speech on both sides of the brain makes women good conversationalists. They enjoy it, and do lots of it. With specific areas to control speech, the rest of a woman’s brain is available for other tasks, enabling her to do lots of different things at once while talking.”
Believe it or not, women are great talkers, and Yes we enjoy it. We enjoy giving speeches no matter of place, time, or subject!
So dear women, next time you get accused of over talking, just pose like a speaker and give a speech!
